The new poster also reveals that the movie will be an out-and-out war movie as the actor is seen in the centre of a war zone with a machine gun. Captain Miller, a period action drama, is directed by Arun Matheshwaran, known for his films Rocky and Saani Kayidham. An erstwhile assistant of Thiagaran Kumararaja, Arun is known for his frames and violent action sequences. Dhanush, who was impressed by Arun’s previous venture, immediately signed on for Captain Miller, which is the costliest project in his career so far.
It is said that the film is set in the pre-independence era and possibly based on real events. GV Prakash is composing the music for the movie, which also stars Priyanka Arul Mohan, Niveditaa Sathish, Shivaraj Kumar, Sundeep Kishan, and Edward Sonnenblick. While there were many speculations that the film is based on an LTTE soldier named Captain Miller, Arun Matheshwaran said the movie is not based on him. The makers have confirmed that the film will hit screens this year, but the release date is yet to be announced.
