Rajinikanth’s Jailer ended up being a blockbuster, and Anirudh Ravichander’s background score and the racy song “Hukum” were given a lot of credit for the success. Now, with Vijay’s Leo, the music composer is repeating a similar pattern that he followed in the Rajinikanth-starrer. Jailer had two mass numbers – “Hukum” and “Jujubee”. Similarly, Leo also has two such songs – “Naa Varavaa” and “Badass”. To balance out the masculinity, Jailer had “Rathamaarey”, which was all about father-son love, family, and everything sweet. Now, Leo gets a similar number. Here, the third song, “Anbenum”, takes care of that emotional quotient.

The song banks heavily on the chemistry between Vijay and Trisha, a celebrated on-screen pair, who are coming together after a gap of 15 years. Though the track is a romantic number about the love between the lead couple, lyricist Vishnu Edavan has brilliantly made it about valour. “Anbenum aayudham our veteran nenjame (The weapon called love is the heart of the valiant),” goes the line by the male singer Anirudh Ravichander. On the other hand, when it comes from the perspective of the woman (Trisha), sung by Lothika, love gets redefined.

“Anbenum” features a few pictures from the life of Parthi (Vijay) and his family. Gautham Vasudev Menon seems to be playing a local police officer, who is also a close friend of the family.

Here’s the song:

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Leo is gearing up for release on October 19. Produced by Seven Screen Studios, the film has Sanjay Dutt, Trisha, Mysskin, Arjun, and Gautam Vasudev Menon in pivotal roles. The movie follows the story of an unassuming chocolatier named Parthi in a small town in Himachal Pradesh, who gets harassed by a mob that claims he is not what he seems.
