Ajith Kumar opens up on leaving India for Dubai, dismissing his entourage: ‘I am ashamed I had it, can spoil you’
Ajith Kumar opens up about moving to Dubai where he does everything himself instead of depending on his entourage, which he believes can spoil you.
Ajith Kumar spoke about avoiding entourages and doing everything himself in his new home Dubai.Ajith Kumar has been enjoying his dual career as a motor sport racer and superstar down south for some time now. The actor has been able to balance these two high-stakes careers with no drama and has been setting an example for fans with his diligence. In a recent interview with Anupama Chopra, the superstar was asked about his peculiar habit of avoiding entourages and choosing to do stuff by himself. Ajith recalls, “But is this not what everybody does? I come from a very middle-class family. I had wonderful parents who were way ahead of their time, so I guess we were brought up to do things on our own. We were taught cooking at the age of seven or eight.” There has been an exponential rise in entourage costs of actors, especially in Bollywood, with filmmakers complaining of how it increases the cost of making films. In a recent interview, Farah Khan spoke about how actors often have multiple vanity vans on a set, often for their chefs and as a gym.
The ‘Good Bad Ugly’ star also points out the reasons why he thinks entourages are perfectly ok if they save time for other stars and how he understands such cases, “I can understand why some people prefer to have others around to help them. That makes their lives easier. They have that much commitment to devote time to. It’s probably to save time. I don’t think that is wrong.” The superstar was quick to add why he considers entourages personally to be something that can spoil you if not careful, “The reason I chose to stay away from all that is sometimes it can spoil you. Initially, you have people who help you, but over a period of time, you expect that from everyone around you. It has happened to me in the past, and I am ashamed of it.”
Ajith also added why he prefers to stay away from the noise and stay away from the limelight whenever possible, doing everything by himself alone, “I moved to Dubai for that reason. To stay away from all the noise, I am primarily here for motor sports as the major circuits happen here. It is helping me. I am having to do everything by myself, and I am loving it.”
The actor was quick to clarify, “Having said all that, if you had met with me 20 years ago, you would have probably hated me. It wasn’t that I was spoiled. I probably had an entourage of people. It makes life difficult. The more people you have around you, you have a lot of things to deal with. I felt like I was wasting a lot of time trying to sort out the day-to-day squabbles between them. You kind of seek help for people to look after you.”
Ajith Kumar concluded by observing the emotional baggage of having people around you, “But over a period of time, you realize that you are doing that for them too. That’s too much emotional baggage to carry around. So I felt it would be better to be as independent as one can be.”
