Once upon a time, the collaboration of Dhanush and Anirudh Ravichander, fondly known as DnA, used to have an immense fan following in Tamil Nadu. The collaboration started with Dhanush’s estranged wife Aishwarya’s directorial debut, 3, which also marked Anirudh’s debut as a composer. In a recent interview with Cinema Vikatan, Aishwarya confirmed that Dhanush decided to make Anirudh the music composer of the film.

When asked about Anirudh’s successful journey, which started with her film, Aishwarya said, “I am very happy. Honestly, I have no part in him becoming a music director. Anirudh’s entry into cinema is fully because of Dhanush. When Anirudh’s parents wanted to send him to Singapore for a Bcom or MBA, Dhanush said, ‘Believe me, he is immensely talented.’ From buying a keyboard for him to making him the composer in 3, all credit goes to Dhanush. It was because of Dhanush, and the reason Anirudh is where he is because of his hard work.”

Anirudh became an instant sensation after the success of the song ‘Why This Kolaveri Di?’, which became popular across the world. Dhanush and Anirudh went on to team up for films Vellaiilla Pattadhari, Maari, and Thanga Magan. For reasons unknown, the two stopped working together for about seven years and came together for the film Thiruchitrambalam (2022), which became a blockbuster hit.

Currently, Dhanush is working on multiple projects including his directorial ventures Raayan and Nilavuku Enmel Enadi Kobam. He also has Sekha Kammula’s Kubera in the pipeline. On the other hand, Anirudh, the much-sought-after composer is working on Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan, Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2, Jr NTR’s Devara: Part 1, Ajith’s Vidaamuyarchi, Sivakarthikeyan’s untitled film, and Vignesh Shivan’s Love Insurance Corporation. The two haven’t teamed up after Thiruchitrambalam.
