After Viswasam, Ajith goes back to flying drones

Ajith, popularly known as Thala, is back to designing and developing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV). Madras Institute of Technology appointed him as the Helicopter Test Pilot and UAV System Advisor back in May.

After wrapping up the shoot of his next project Viswasam, actor Ajith is back to designing and developing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV). Ajith, popularly known as Thala, developed his interest in aero-modelling as a child and has nurtured this passion over the years. In fact, he volunteered to be a part of Madras Institute of Technology’s team ‘Daksha’ to help students build an advanced drone for the Medical Express – 2018 UAV Challenge.

He is, reportedly, being offered a salary of Rs 1000 per visit by Madras Institute of Technology to mentor the team. Ajith has chosen to donate that amount towards the education of students from low-income backgrounds.

The college appointed him as the Helicopter Test Pilot and UAV System Advisor back in May and Team Daksha has since gone on to win the second place in the UAV Challenge held in Australia back in September.

Ajith is known for his love for racing and race cars but he is also a licensed pilot.

His next film Viswasam is getting ready for a Pongal release. Written and directed by Siva, the film features Ajith in a double role along with Nayanthara in the lead. It is produced by Sathya Jyothi Films and D. Imman has composed the music.
