Adult Swim, known for popular games Major Mayhem and Robot Unicorn Attack series, recently launched a free side scrolling, hill-climb game called Delivery Outlaw. In this motorcycle stunt game, the player is transported to a colourful, cartoon – inspired set-up, where you play as the disgraced daredevil Jack Gunnit, who has turned delivery boy, as he is forced off the road and outside the law. For the player, the main goal is to transport illegal cargo through tough, challenging areas. But at the same time, you need to make sure that you don’t cause too much damage to the cargo.
You can swing, flip while driving on the road, but most of the time, the player has to deal with the changes in road types and keep an eye on the pitfalls on the way. The ride can get really bumpy at times. while you start off with a modest motorbike, there are six upgradable bikes like the Cuter Scooter, Dethrukk, Nonsense Glank among others. The obstacles are pretty interesting, with the things like dynamites and various layered items on the road, trying to act as a hurdle. In such cases, you must hold on to your bike and pass the hurdle without causing much trouble to the cargo. There are 32 different levels and 25 game center challenges to conquer.
But even with all the fun elements, Delivery Outlaw does not strike out as the best in this genre. There are far better games that we have tried in the past, like Trials Frontier, and somewhere, Delivery Outlaw falls short of providing 100 per cent entertainment. Although each level is touted to be unique, the experience is so tiring that you might give up sooner than you expect. The confusing terrain and road levels don’t give you the freedom to drive at a good speed. The speed bumps are annoying and the hurdles are filled with them. Oh, and if you end up crashing while you are on the way, you go back to square one and start all over again, which is a pain. Although Delivery Outlaw had everything going for it, especially the fact that it is a free game and the graphics, music is pretty cool. But alas! There is no surprise in store for hard core gamers here.
