Actor Shreyas Talpade’s first solo production in Marathi Poshter Boyz has been garnering a lot of interest for its unique story and there are plans to remake the film in Hindi to reach out to a wider audience. Based on vasectomy, the film is a hilarious take on three men who find themselves caught in a situation that is not their doing. Produced under Talpade’s own banner Affluence Movies Private Limited, the film, directed by Sameer Patil, was released on August 1.
Talking about his plans to make it in Hindi, Talpade says that it all started after the press screening when people said that since it is a universal subject, everyone will enjoy it. “At that time, I did not give it much thought. As days passed and we got good response with friends and fans posting their demands on Twitter and Facebook., we thought it was a great idea.”
However, since he is busy with the Marathi version which is garnering interest; he had to add many shows because of the demand, Talpade says, it will be some time before the Hindi remake will take off. “Nothing is planned as of now. We need to work on the screenplay and make a few changes. Only when the script is locked and we are ready with the final draft will we think about casting. Till then, we will not make any unnecessary announcements.” When asked if Sameer Patil would be directing the film, he said, it will depend on whether he (Sameer) is ready to venture into Hindi films. “But my banner will be producing the film,” says Talpade whose Poshter Boyz, made on a budget of about Rs.2 crore, has earned Rs. 1.60 crore within eight days of its release.
