Director Devendra Jadhav, who won accolades across several film festivals for his short film And Gandhi Goes Missing, has planned to make it a part of a trilogy. And Gandhi… is a nineteen-minute film, which focuses on the life of a young boy who faces social stigma, since his surname, Godse, is similar to that of Nathuram Godse who was involved in the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi. While the Hindi version has been screened, the Marathi version is currently under pre-production. The other two parts in the offering are titled as And Netaji Is Alive and And Sardar Fights Back. Jadhav is in talks with Manoj Bajpayee and Irrfan respectively for the two short films.
Confirming the same, Jadhav said, “My producer Kiran Motion Pictures, presenters Rajiv Seth and Q-LAB and I are already in talks with Manoj and Irrfan. We are currently in the process of blocking the dates and hopefully, we will shoot both the films sometime this year. While And Netaji… will focus on the mystery behind Netaji Subhashchandra Bose’s death and investigations about whether he is still alive, And Sardar.. will focus on Vallabhbhai Patel’s story. Both were the leaders of the Indian National Congress. The first film was shot over three days in Mumbai and the other two films will require around the same time for filming.”
Jadhav, who is also in the process of scripting his debut feature film, stated that work on the same will start only once he is done with the trilogy. “The feature film project is currently under pre-production. Meanwhile, this patriotic trilogy will be released as a 60-minute film and we will screen it at various film festivals and schools, the latter being our priority, since we want families and children to connect with the issues reflected in the films,” added Jadhav.

Manoj Bajpayee on opting out of Yaara

By Geety Sahgal

Confirming that he has opted out of Yaara, Manoj Bajpayee said that the decision for doing so was a creative one. “When Tigmanshu (Dhulia) narrated the idea to me, I found it very interesting, but when I read the final draft, I was not too happy with the way my role had shaped up. It had lost its zing. And eventually, an actor takes a decision after reading the final script. And when I explained my reason to Tishu (Dhulia), he understood and the decision has not affected our friendship,” said the actor.
Besides Dhulia, the film that talks about friendship between friends over several years, stars Irrfan, Vidyut Jammwal, Shruti Haasan and Amit Sadh.
