Teaser assures that Mammootty’s ‘Thoppil Joppan’ won’t be a disaster

Although the teaser doesn’t pack visuals and dialogues to enthral audience, it still manages to strike a chord. It is colourful and peppy. And it has a tagline that reads: “50% Love, 50% Alcohol.”

So what does this tiny teaser video offer? Assurance. The Malayalam film audience can get their hopes high as ‘Thoppli Joppan’ won’t be another disaster from Mammootty like ‘White’ and ‘Kasaba’.

Playing an achayan, a colloquial expression for male members of the Saint Thomas Christians in Kerala, has worked for Mammootty in the past. Actually, he thrives on such roles. He had played an achayan in his super hit films like ‘Kottayam Kunjachan’, ‘Nasrani’ and ‘Kizhakkan Pathrose.’

The comedy film is directed by Johny Antony. Previously, he had helmed ‘Thuruppugulan’, ‘Ee Pattanathil Bhootham’ and ‘Thappana’ with Mammootty in the lead.

‘Thoppli Joppan’, which is touted to be a laugh riot, is scripted by Nishad Koya and bankrolled by Grand Day Films Corporation.

The film also stars Renji Panicker, Harisree Ashokan, Alencier, Suresh Krishna and Saju Navodaya in pivotal roles.

Mamtha, meanwhile, has worked with Mammootty in many films, including ‘Varsham’, ‘Jawan of Vellimala’ and ‘Big B’. In ‘Thoppli Joppan’, she plays his love interest during one part of his life.
