KGF, Kantara actor Dinesh Mangaluru dies at 55

Dinesh Mangaluru was famously known for his role in Yash's KGF. He played the role of the Bombay Don. Before acting, Dinesh worked as an art director in several Kannada films.

Veteran Kannada actor and art director Dinesh Mangaluru passed away on Monday. The actor breathed his last at 3:30 am at his residence in Udupi, according to TV9. He was famously known for his roles in iconic Kannada films KGF, Kichcha and Kirik Party among others. He was 55. He played the role of the Bombay Don in KGF.

According to another local publication, Udayavani, Dinesh suffered a stroke during the shooting of Kantara. He had recovered after receiving treatment in Bengaluru, but complained of ill health last week and was admitted to Ankadakkatte Suregon Hospital.

The report also stated that Dinesh was hospitalised due to a brain haemorrhage and was unwell for the last one year.

Before attaining fame with his roles in films like Rana Vikram, Ambari, Savari, Inti Ninna Beti, Aa Dingi, and Slum Bala, the actor worked as an art director is several films. The list of films include Prarthane, Tughlak, Bettada jeeva, Surya Kanti and Raavana, among others. Before entering the mainstream cinema, Dinesh had a strong background in theater.

Dinesh’s body will be reportedly brought to Bengaluru this evening. According to the actor’s family, his body will be kept for public viewing at his residence in Laggere from 8 am on Tuesday. His final rites will be performed tomorrow at Sumanahalli crematorium.

Born in Kundapur in Udupi district, Dinesh was a resident of Bengaluru for many years. He is survived by his sons Pawan, Sajjan and wife Bharati.
