AUS vs SA Cricket Score, 2nd ODI Highlights: Ngidi five-for powers South Africa to dominant series win in Australia

Lungi Ngidi claims his five-wicket haul and that's the series victory there for Australia. Adam Zampa can only chip the length ball to the edge of the circle yet again as South Africa complete a clinical 84-run victory.

Australia lose three consecutive ODI series for the first time in six years!

Nine down now, Australia! He came close with a slider the previous ball but Muthusamy has his man nevertheless. Nathan Ellis goes for an extravagant slap vacating the crease and Rickelton clatters the bails down.

There's the decisive blow! Ngidi sends Inglis packing with a fuller delivery. Excellent reactions there from Ngidi as he sees Inglis charging down and opts for the fuller delivery outside off. The ball clips the edge and skims to Rickelton who does the rest. Ngidi to Bartlett, OUT! Australia are unravelling pretty quickly out there. Ngidi bangs it short this time and Bartlett's faulty pull only lobs to the edge of the circle at mid-on where sub Corbin Bosch stands waiting.

Ngidi returns. But Inglis is in such positive spirits that he doesn't wait to unfurl the ramp first up for FOUR over the keeper. Ngidi follows up with a slower ball and Inglis watches it through before opting to block it down. Another slower delivery and Inglis watchfully nudges it to mid-on.

Inglis nonchalantly shimmies down the track and pumps Maharaj through cow corner for FOUR.  Quick two runs to follow and Inglis applies pressure further with a wristy sweep behind square-leg for another FOUR.

Burger returns with heat and the nip-backers to possibly to take down one of the two men at the crease. He continues to maintain a solid stance and see off deliveries from the crease. Massive blow for the Aussies as South Africa have packed five men off.

Senuran Muthusamy to Green, OUT! Against the run of play and a smooth partnership, South Africa have a wicket!

Green lunges forward but the sheer lack of pace on a loopy delivery proves to be his undoing. A simple chip back to the bowler and Muthusamy holds onto it after all.

Inglis charges through the covers and a third chance goes down in the field. Tony de Zorzi fails to hold onto the ball with both hands and there's a third lifeline for an Aussie bat tonight. The hundred comes up as Green and Inglis continue to put the field under immense pressure.

Inglis dances down the stroke and pummels Markram exquisitely over extra cover for SIX! Cracking stroke against the turn and inward angle and the ball's travelled quite the distance there. Australia deftly surging in confidence with this stand. Excellent hands yet again as Inglis unfurls a last-second reverse sweep down past short third for FOUR more!

The captain brings himself on as Australia briefly slip into a rut, but that's only a fleeting passage as Inglis quickly flips the board with a reverse-sweep over point for FOUR.

Senuran Muthusamy into the attack as SA introduce spin from both ends. Inglis and Green tread on singles to keep the chase afloat. Three from the over.

Inglis pumps Mulder down the ground over mid-on for FOUR, releasing much of the built-up pressure. Mulder follows up with a cracking nip-backer that nearly jags back into the stumps. Fraction short and Inglis clobbers the ball high into the hill over mid-wicket for SIX!

Mulder continues to hold his tight lines around the stumps as Inglis stands tall and pumps the deliveries back down the strip. Five dots on the bounce and Inglis flicks one through mid-wicket for a single.

A nasty slide for Mulder as he jumps to deliver his first ball at the crease. Thankfully, no harm done as he continues through his first spell and picks up a wicket second ball! Change of pace and Marsh fails to account for the extra bounce as he lobs up the ball to the mid-on fielder.

Ngidi lands on the full and Green pierces the ball through with a charge for FOUR. Overpitched and Green punishes the length with a meaty strike through extra cover for another FOUR. Australia are getting the scoring rates back on track with a string of boundaries here.

Burger pushes the ball further up and Marsh slams it through cover and... Stubbs puts down another catch. A tad early into his movements, Stubbs has put down both batters in a matter of minutes! Marsh rubs salt ito the wounds with another gorgeous shot through extra cover for FOUR.

Length all outside off-stump and Marsh's hard swipe sends the ball flying off the edge over the slips for FOUR. Short ball and Marsh swats it over mid-on for another FOUR. Ngidi goes fuller and Marsh carves a single through cover-point.

Burger gets late movement from across the turf as it tails in past Marsh's blade. Fuller and outside the off-stump and Marsh creams the ball through extra cover for FOUR. Excellent follow-up as Burger swerves the ball into the stumps.

Ngidi to Labuschagne, OUT! There's the edge and the wicket! Ngidi expertly sets up Labuschagne before shaping the ball away from the channel. Labuschagne walks into the trap and a gentle waft is enough for Rickelton to get the rest done. Massive blow for Australia as Cam Green walks in at 4. IN THE AIRRR and dropped first ball! Almost action replay with the outswinger and Green leans in and pushes the ball hard, the edge flying to the right of Tristan Stubbs at second slip, spilling a massive chance.

Burger to Head, OUT! Massive jolt for the Aussies! After smearing a ball through point for FOUR, Head attempts hoick Burger across the line and sends the leading edge skying straight to the mid-on fielder.

In the air..and just short of de Zorzi! Head's on a streaky start here as Lungi Ngidi nearly winds him down first ball with a delivery that shapes away from back-of-a-length. The ball lobs up off the outside edge and falls just short of the cover fielder. Sharp inswinger to follow and Head nearly finds the short mid-wicket fielder. Good fire here from the SA pacers early on.

Travis Head and Mitch Marsh are out in the middle. Nandre Burger's up with the new ball. Got to be an interesting chase.

Some serious heat and rhythm from Burger as he squares up Head with a rip-snorting bumper that jags in a bit after pitching. Head manages to keep it out somehow and sets off with a single.

Josh Hazlewood castles Ngidi as Australia restrict to South Africa to 277. A couple of enterprising knocks from Breetzke and Stubbs, but a much sharper start with the ball has ensured Mitch Marsh and his boys can target a series-levelling win here.

Bartlett nails his lengths yet again as only two runs come out of the penultimate over. He's held superb awareness of the lengths he's had to bowl tonight. Fuller up front and a healthy mix of variations later on. Finishes up with 2/45 in nine.

Cheeky from Maharaj as he crouches low and ramps Hazlewood past the keeper for FOUR down leg. Back-of-a-length and Maharaj handsomely biffs it over mid-wicket for another FOUR!

Fourth catch of the evening for Cam Green as Zampa gets another caught off the slog. Burger falls into the tempatation of a juicy half-tracker and Green completes an excellent running catch. Only the 8th instance in ODI history where an Australia fielder has bagged four catches in a match!

Huge blow for South Africa as Zampa bags Stubbs! Another tempter floated out on length and Stubbs' attempted slog-sweep lobs straight up. Another straightforward catch for Green running in from long-on and the Proteas momentum has taken a huge hit now. Nandre Burger walks in at 9.  Another floater but Maharaj steps out and thumps it just over long-on for a SIX this time.

Tristan Stubbs c Green b Zampa 74 (87b 3x4 1x6)

The Marnus trick works this time after Heady from the previous game. No matter if it is a rank full-toss, but it's getting the job done here. A loopy delivery and Senuran Muthusamy sends it straight down cow corner's throat. SA are frittering away quickly now and might just fall short of 300 here.

Labuschagne strikes! Swinging it along the big fence, Mulder fails to land the desired connection. He tonks it straight to the long-on fielder just when SA were looking to break free.

Hazlewood returns and Stubbs swats a short-ball from his presence for FOUR through mid-wicket. He goes fuller this time to Mulder but the result holds as he crunches the ball down the ground past Hazlewood for another FOUR.

The 200 comes up with a tough dropped chance at mid-wicket. Skipper Marsh fails to hold onto a sturdy pull from Mulder off Marnus, getting away with the single there.

Fifty for Stubbs as he continues to maintain his head even while his partners seem to have lost it briefly. Labuschagne returns for another over as he keeps it tight onto the stumps, keeping Stubbs pinned to the crease. A tad shorter and Stubbs drives it to the deep for a single.

Ellis to Brevis, OUT! Banged in and gone! Another short delivery and another stroke without control over impulse. Ellis sends in another well-directed bumper, chest high and Brevis immediately opts for the pull. Fails to keep along the turf and that's another regulation catch down at deep mid-wicket.

Dewald Brevis c Green b Ellis 1 (5b)

Good challenge for Dewald Brevis here after a mercurial 6-and-out debut. He's got about 20 overs to play with, just like how he loves it. 

Ellis to Breetzke! OUT! Massive wicket on the stroke of drinks.

He can't keep down the attempted short ball to the shoulder down this time as he goes with the impulsive hook. Breetzke can't clearer the larger square as Alex Carey takes an easy catch in the deep without the gloves. Huge breakthrough there for the hosts when Breetzke just looked poised to break more records.

Nevertheless, Breetzke equalled the world record for most consecutive fifties from ODI debut with his fouth successive half-century.

SA 179/4 in 31 overs

Over 20 in the last two overs and Stubbs has seamlessly moved into the forties here. Zampa continues to loop the ball up as both batters tread with ones and twos. He bangs one short and Breetzke quickly wallops it down the ground, beating long-on for FOUR.

SA 176/3 in 30 overs

A couple of singles off Head and a loopy full-toss around the stumps and Stubbs unleashes a cracking reverse-sweep through backward point for FOUR. SA seem keen to unsettle Head and apply some pressure back on the Aussies. Breetzke shuffles in sight of a big hit but covers the line with a single down to long-off. 150 up for South Africa.

Ellis returns with a nip-backer that cuts Stubbs in half from length, the ball rising just over the middle-stump on its way to the 'keeper. Good shout to follow as Ellis pins the ball high onto Stubbs' pads. Australia however do not take the review as the ball is seen to climb over the wickets on replays. Four dots and Stubbs gets his release with a single down to deep cover.

SA 141/2 in 26 overs

Travis Head enters the attack. After his four-fer, he might just have the right wits to spring a few surprises here again. He starts around the stumps and he keeps the batters wound to the crease. Three runs from it.

SA 121/3 in 23 overs

Half-century for Matthew Breetzke as he reaches there in only 46 deliveries. Came up early under pressure at No. 4 but with a busy set of strokes, he's bailed SA out of imminent trouble on a good-looking deck. 

Hazlewood returns for his second spell. Marsh senses this as an important passage of play to get Australia back on top. A wicket here could open things up nicely. Hazlewood continues to attack the stumps as Stubbs pushes forward for a solid block. Three from the over as the 100 comes up for South Africa.

89/2 in 15 overs at Drinks. Time for some spin as Adam Zampa steps into the attack. He floats one outside off first up and Breetzke drives it to the sweeper for a single. A string of dots and GONE! de Zorzi looked erratic all along and after Zampa cramps him up in a streak, a quicker one down the stumps finds a straightforward leading edge back to the bowler himself. Tristan Stubbs walks in at 5.

Tony de Zorzi c & b Zampa 38 (39b 5x4)

Breetzke has stubbed Australia's hopes to slice through the order early with the two wickets within the first 10 with an eclectic pool of shots on display. He's moved around nicely in the crease, pressing back and zooming to the front-foot in a flash according to the pace on the ball. And right on cue, he unleashes a forehand smash off a slower bumper that rises over his shoulders, past a diving Marsh at mid-off for FOUR. The partnership waltzes past 50 in no time.

Ellis returns with a short ball and de Zorzi stands tall and pummels it through mid-wicket for FOUR. de Zorzi continues to be wobbly around deliveries outside the off-stump as he crouches to guide a couple of deliveries down to third.

Nathan Ellis replaces Bartlett

de Zorzi steps out and wallops a loosener from Ellis past extra cover for FOUR as South Africa quietly begin to form momentum. Stepping out to the seamers seem to be warranted on this tacky pitch to find the meat of the bat.

Aaron Hardie into the attack

Matthew Breetzke doesn't let Hardie settle in early as he charges with the flamingo and he whips him over mid-on for FOUR. Short and quick but Breetzke swivels and smokes the ball over backward square for SIX! Is that another maximum? Yep, it is. Another half-paced bumper and Breetzke top-edges it all the way over the square for a SIX. 

SA 45/2 in 8 overs

The pitch and the Aussie seamers are playing all tricks on the minds of the SA batters. Breetzke is beaten twice in three deliveries by the variable bounce as he nearly offers a leading edge on the off-side and the absence of a mid-off fielder saves him.

SA 29/2 in 7 overs

Bartlett to Rickelton, OUT! A scorcher of a catch and ball! Bartlett deprives the left-hander with width and keeps the ball right outside the off-stump on length. Rickelton reaches out with a tentative push and the thick outside-edge zooms to a diving Inglis. Excellent catch there and the Aussies are right on top in the first hour here.

Back-of-a-length without much room from Hazlewood and yet de Zorzi artfully flays the ball past point for FOUR. The shot prompts Hazlewood to come around the stumps almost instantly to cover the angle. SA 21/1 in 5 overs

Excellent control from both Hazlewood and Bartlett to keep the batters wound to the crease. After Hazlewood skims through another spotless over, Bartlett continues to push the ball fuller to beat the left-handers. The pitch already seems to be on the slower side as de Zorzi nearly crouches to latch himself onto a half-tracker, hitting it down the ground off the toe of the blade for FOUR.

Xavier Bartlett into the attack

Bartlett to Markram, OUT! Chipped and taken! Markram is undone by the lack of pace on that delivery that sprung up a bit from back of a length. Excellent variation in speeds as Bartlett gets the ball to kick up a little bat, pressing Markram at the crease to lob it straight to short mid-wicket. 

Tony de Zorzi is the new man. Excellent first delivery there from Bartlett as he swings it on the full past the blade and the off-stump.

Fine start first up from Hazlewood as he hits his metronomic lengths on the strip straightaway. He finds the perfect shape away from the left-handed Rickelton, almost luring him into feeble pushes on the up. Hazlewood takes the ball a touch fuller and beats the outside-edge off the fifth delivery.

Ryan Rickelton and Aiden Markram are out in the middle for South Africa. Josh Hazlewood takes the new ball.

As Marsh had mentioned, South Africa had not only outplayed the hosts with the ball but also racked up a sizable total in the opening game. Australia will have to hope the bowling stocks fire early today to keep the Proteas within limits. The middle-order is thin on experience and Marsh will hope that at least three of the top six will go onto have a fine evening. Australia women's skipper Alyssa Healy has conceded that dew wouldn't be a major factor and the Aussies will certainly keep that in mind.

Mitchell Marsh: We wanted to bat first as well. Outplayed completely in the first match. Hopefully we can put on a better show today.
