Sonu Nigam takes a dig at IIFA 2025 after failing to get nomination for ‘Mere Dholna’: ‘You were answerable to Rajasthan bureaucracy’

Sonu Nigam slams IIFA as his name was missing from the nomination list, links it to Rajasthan CM’s exit from his show.

The 25th International Indian Film Academy Awards, popularly know as IIFA, was held on March 8 and 9th at the Jaipur Exhibition & Convention Centre in Jaipur, Rajasthan. While the photos, videos and winners made the headlines earlier, ace singer Sonu Nigam’s cryptic post is now making news. The singer shared a post on his Instagram account, taking a jibe at the awards ceremony.

Sonu Nigam shared a screenshot of this year’s nominees, which included names like Arijit Singh, Karan Aujla, Diljit Dosanjh and Baadshah, Jubin Nautiyal, and Mitraz. The singer was seemingly not happy with his absence from this year’s nominations. He captioned his post as, “Thank you IIFA… After all you were answerable to the Rajasthan bureaucracy.”

Sonu Nigam had delivered the hit track “Mere Dholna 3.0″ from Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. While Shreya Ghoshal lifted the trophy of Best Female singer for the same song, Sonu was not even nominated. The IIFA 2025’s best singer male award went to Jubin Nautiyal for his song ‘Dua’ from Article 370.

Sonu Nigam’s response also seems to be in connection with Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma leaving his concert midway in December last year as IIFA 2025 took place in Jaipur, Rajasthan. IIFA was held in Jaipur with the state government playing an active role. CM Bhajan Lal Sharma was a part of the festivities as was deputy CM Diya Kumari. The Rajasthan government had reportedly set aside a total sum of ₹100 crore for the occasion. This comprises ₹20 crore from the Rajasthan Industrial and Investment Corporation (RIICO), ₹50 crore from the state government, and ₹30 crore from the tourist department.
