Malayalam film Varshangalkku Shesham, starring Dhyan Sreenivasan, Pranav Mohanlal, and Nivin Pauly, among others, is off to a decent start at the box office.
According to early estimates by trade website Sacnilk, the Vineeth Sreenivasan directorial earned Rs 2.47 crore on opening day. The film had an overall occupancy of 66.45 per cent in Malayalam on Thursday.
Besides Pranav, Dhyan and Nivin, Varshangalkku Shesham also features Kalyani Priyadarshan, Aju Varghese and Basil Joseph. The movie marks the second collaboration of Pranav and Vineeth after their hit 2022 romantic drama Hridayam.
Meanwhile, Varshangalkku Shesham opened to mixed reviews. Anandu Suresh of The Indian Express wrote about the film, “While Vineeth Sreenivasan stands out as one of the rare Malayalam directors with an unblemished 100 per cent success rate, his films often draw criticism for their numerous cringe-inducing moments. Nonetheless, what resonates with audiences in Vineeth’s movies is their ability to forge emotional connections — a quality notably lacking in Varshangalkku Shesham. Despite adhering to conventional plot points commonly found in Indian films depicting artistes’ journeys into cinema, the writer-director fails to deliver compelling moments, resulting in a consistently underwhelming film.”
