Tovino Thomas’ Nadikar Thilakam to go on floors on this date

From the moment Lal Jr’s Nadikar Thilakam was first announced, with Tovino Thomas in the lead role, cinephiles have been overjoyed knowing that the film would showcase a never-seen-before avatar of the actor. The level of excitement reached new heights when Tovino revealed a character poster from the movie last month.

Now, director Lal Jr, known for movies like Driving Licence and Honey Bee, has announced that the film would go on floors soon. Sharing new posters of the movie on Instagram, Lal Jr wrote, “Lights, camera, Nadikar Thilakam! 🎥✨ We’re thrilled to announce that the much-awaited shoot for “Nadikar Thilakam” will begin on July 11, 2023!” Nadikar Thilakam will hit theatres in 2024.

Confirming the same, Tovino wrote, “Get ready to witness the rise of a cinematic icon! Stay tuned for more updates and gear up for an unforgettable journey into the world of stardom.”

The director also mentioned that while Tovino Thomas will play the role of superstar David Padikkal, Soubin Shahir will play a character named Bala in Nadikar Thilakam.

Nadikar Thilakam is said to centre around Padikkal’s professional life, which has encountered obstacles due to various factors, and his endeavours to liberate himself from these challenges.

The film’s production is scheduled to span over 120 days, with shooting taking place at multiple locations, Mathrubhumi had reported earlier. This big-budget project will boast a talented ensemble cast comprising Veena Nandakumar, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Anoop Menon, Shine Tom Chacko, Sreenath Bhasi, Lal and Madhupal, alongside Tovino and Soubin.

Bankrolled jointly by Y Naveen and Y Ravi Shankar’s Mythri Movie Makers and Allan Antony and Anoop Venugopal’s GodSpeed, Nadikar Thilakam’s script has been penned by Suvin Somasekharan.

While Alby Antony will handle the cinematography, Ratheesh Raj has been roped in as the editor. Yakzan Gary Pereira is composing the songs for this movie for which Prasanth Madhav is heading the art department.

Govt approves Rs 30,000-cr compensation to OMCs for their losses on cooking gas sales

The Cabinet has approved a budget of Rs 30,000 crore to support public sector oil marketing companies and cover their losses from selling cooking gas cylinders below market price. This will also continue the targeted subsidy for poor households under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. The compensation will be divided among the three OMCs to ensure uninterrupted supply of LPG.
