A school teacher died after a speeding truck hit her two-wheeler on Pune’s Katraj–Kondhwa road; the truck driver has been arrested.
A speeding truck knocked down a two wheeler, causing the death of its rider on the road near Kesar lodged on the Katraj Kondhwa road, on Monday morning.
Police have identified the deceased as Rama Lalitprasad Kapadi (52), resident of Shrinivas Sankul, Mauli Nagar on Katraj Kondhwa road. Police said Rama Kapadi was a school teacher.
Her daughter Revati lodged the first information report (FIR) in this case at the Kondhwa police station. Police have arrested the truck driver identified as Devendra Basannapalli (45) of Telangana.
Police said Kapadi, a teacher, left home in the morning and was on her way to school, on a two wheeler. But a speeding truck knocked her down near Kesar lodge on the Katraj Kondhwa road.
The impact was so severe that Kapade collapsed on the road in a pool of blood. She was rushed to a hospital, but was pronounced dead by the doctors, police said.
Meanwhile, a police team, including senior police inspector Kumar Ghadge, inspector Navnath Jagtap, visited the accident spot. The truck driver was taken into custody and booked on charges of negligent driving.
Police sub inspector Ravindra Gawade is investigating the case further.
Meanwhile, in another road mishap, a dumper rammed a motorcycle, causing the death of its rider, at Ubale Nagar in Wagholi, in the early hours of Sunday.
Police have identified the deceased as Asif Yakub Ansari (21), resident of Wagholi. His brother Miraz Shaikh lodged the FIR in this case at the Wagholi police station.
Police said Asif was riding a motorcycle with his friend. A dumper knocked them around 1.40 am. Police have launched a search for the dumper driver.
