Prithviraj Sukumaran moves to next after wrapping up Empuraan; wife Supriya says, ‘You have a wife and a child’

In his latest social media post, actor-filmmaker Prithviraj spoke about completing all the formalities of L2: Empuraan before moving to his next.

Prithviraj's latest social media post was a hotbed of fun and speculation regarding his next.

Malayalam cinema audience are waiting with bated breath to see what actor-filmmaker Prithviraj Sukumaran has cooked up in L2: Empuraan, the much-awaited sequel to Lucifer. But before that, with the film wrapped up, and ready for release on March 27, Prithviraj has stepped into his original profession of being an actor.

In a recent social media post, Prithviraj, who finally removed his beard, shared a photo with him sporting a simple thick moustache, and wrote, “Finish and hand over film and all marketing assets on your directorial (Check). Get into appearance for your next as an actor (Check). Realise you have long monologues in a language that’s not native to you and start becoming nervous (Check).”

Since the post was out, there have been speculations about what is the project that has got Prithviraj, a consummate actor who has starred in various films across languages like Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi, to be nervous. Some started believing that it was a soft launch of his long-speculated presence in SS Rajamouli’s next with Mahesh Babu, tentatively titled SSMB 29. These speculations have been doing the rounds for a few months now, and Prithviraj has been unable to escape questions regarding this news irrespective of which film he has been promoting over the same phase.

Meanwhile, there were also speculations that Prithviraj has backed out of the film, which also stars Priyanka Chopra, and has since been replaced by her Dostana co-star John Abraham. On the other hand, there have been rumours of Prithviraj headlining Meghna Gulzar’s next, which also features Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead.

But before netizens could zero in on what monologue is making him nervous, it was clear that there was another bigger reason for him to get nervous. It was his wife Supriya Menon’s response to Prithviraj’s post about checking all the boxes before moving to his next. She wrote, “Reminder – You have a wife and a child.” If this doesn’t make one nervous, what else would?

Nevertheless, L2: Empuraan is shaping up to become one of the most-anticipated pan-Indian films from Malayalam, and features a galaxy of stars, including Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Saniya Iyappan, Game of Thrones-fame Jerome Flynn, and Prithviraj. Apart from this movie, Prithviraj also recently wrapped up the shooting of the much-delayed Vilayath Buddha, and has an interesting lineup of films, including Prashanth Neel’s Salaar 2.
