Mohanlal picks up broom to support PM Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

Mlayalam superstar Mohanlal took part in a cleanliness drive in Kerala to support PM Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. The Centre had launched 'Swachhata Hi Seva', a fortnight campaign, to mark the third anniversary of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

Malayalam Superstar Mohanlal on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on Monday joined the clean India mission, a pet project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in Thiruvananthapuram. He picked the broom and swept a school compound as part of the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign that also concluded on Monday.

The Centre had launched ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’, a fortnight campaign, to mark the third anniversary of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Mohanlal was one of the celebrities, who was invited by the Prime Minister to support his vision of clean India.

Mohanlal on Monday first visited Gandhi Bhavan, where he paid floral tribute to Gandhi Smarak in Thiruvananthapuram. And then he inaugurated the state-wide cleanliness campaign and took part in the cleanliness drive at Government Model Boys School, which was jointly organised the IMA, KGMOA and Mohanlal Fans Association.

He also took oath at the event along with others to keep their surroundings clean. “It is not a one-day event. We have been contemplating ways to carry forward this mission,” the Pulimurugan star told the media.

“To be a responsible citizen, everyone needs to be proud of their nation first and should understand that the “country is our home and home is our identity,” Mohanlal had said in a Facebook post responding to the invitation from Modi.

“I think, no other day is better than the birth anniversary day of our Father of Nation when we should promise ourselves and our home that we will keep it clean forever and never make it dirty in future,” he added.

Mohanlal is currently busy shooting for his upcoming thriller Odiyan, which is directed by VA Shrikumar Menon. He is also currently awaiting the release of Villain, a crime thriller, which is directed by B Unnikrishnan.
