Three years ago, eight directors and a large group of seasoned Malayalam actors came together to create an anthology series. This project, which has since then created significant hype, features nine segments, each based on an iconic story penned by Jnanpith Award-winning author and screenwriter-director MT Vasudevan Nair. After a considerable wait, the series, titled Manorathangal, is finally set for release and the makers have unveiled its official trailer.

The 106-second trailer begins with actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan introducing MT’s legacy. As the trailer progresses, glimpses of the various segments in the series appear, featuring a diverse array of actors, including Malayalam superstars Mohanlal and Mammootty. It becomes evident throughout the promo that none of these stories share any similarities and that each is set in a different terrain and period. While Mohanlal’s segment is presented in black-and-white, Mammootty’s appears to be more intense.
