Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA), Kerala Film Producers’ Association (KFPA) and Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) on Tuesday said that they will not cooperate with Malayalam actors Shane Nigam and Sreenath Bhasi anymore, after several producers complained about the two to the film bodies.
In a press meet held in Kochi, KFPA official and film producer M Renjith said, “There have been many complaints against Shane Nigam and Sreenath Bhasi. We are not taking the names of these actors due to their drug abuse. Both Shane and Sreenath have time and again troubled filmmakers, technicians and co-stars. What we are saying is that there are lot of people who use drugs on set and cause troubles. Don’t twist what we said. There is difficulty and we intend to do course correction. This shouldn’t continue as it will severely affect the film industry.”
When reporters asked about the complaints against Shane Nigam and Sreenath Bhasi, Renjith said, “Our film organisations can’t justify Shane Nigam’s actions. Halfway through the production, Shane insisted that he should be given more prominence in the film (RDX). Shane wanted the movie to be edited mid-production. He even threated not to act in the movie. There is proof of all this.” The producer of the film RDX, Sophia Paul, was also present at the press meet.
Talking about Sreenath Bhasi, he said, “Sreenath Bhasi, meanwhile, has no idea which films he is signing. He even says agreements with producers are traps.” Renjith said the behaviour of both the actors has resulted in huge losses for film producers.
M Renjith also said Kerala Film Producers’ Association “will not be giving no objection certificates to upcoming movies featuring Shane Nigam and Sreenath Bhasi.” He added, “We aren’t banning them but we have told the producers that if they go ahead and make movies with these actors, we will not entertain any complaints. If there are people who can tolerate them and go ahead, they can. As far as we are concerned, we can’t cooperate with people we can’t tolerate.”
Last week, there were reports that Shane Nigam walked out of the sets of the film RDX and even tried to interfere in the editing process. FEFKA had then said no actors have the right to interfere in the process.
