Darshana Rajendran set to make her Telugu debut with Praveen Kandregula’s women-centric film
The Cinema Bandi director Praveen Kandregula's sophomore film will also star Anupama Parameswaran and Sangeetha in prominent roles alongside Darshana Rajendran.

Darshana Rajendran is one of those rare talents in Malayalam cinema who captivates audiences with her remarkable film choices and stellar performances. Since the onset of 2022, every single one of her five films – Hridayam, Dear Friend, Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey, Thuramukham, and Purusha Pretham – has either become a blockbuster success, garnered critical acclaim, or achieved both.
Now, the actor is gearing up for her Telugu debut in a highly anticipated film directed by Praveen Kandregula, known for his remarkable debut film Cinema Bandi. This women-centric project will also star Anupama Parameswaran and Sangeetha in prominent roles alongside Darshana.
Taking to social media to announce Darshana coming onboard his new project, Kandregula wrote: “In My NEXT ❤️ Introducing @darshanarajendran in her first Telugu film.”
Sharing a photo of the hardbound cover of the script featuring all three actors, Kandregula noted, “Script is locked 🔒 after 2 years. It’s really hard to crack a script like this. I promise to deliver a very honest film after #cinemabandi this time in Theatres 🎭.”

According to OTTplay, the makers have almost completed the film’s pre-production works, and it will go on floors next month. The film is being bankrolled by Vijay Donkada.
Marking her first venture outside of Malayalam cinema, Darshana stepped into the Tamil film industry with the 2015 comedy flick Moone Moonu Varthai. She then went on to appear in two more Tamil films, Kavan (2017) and Theeviram (2020). She was last seen in the dark comedy Malayalam film Purusha Pretham directed by Krishand.
In a recent interview with indianexpress.com, Darshana said that she picks up only those films that she can relate to or what her heart truly yearns for. “Even while turning down 10 projects, and not knowing if an 11th one would happen, I continue to wait for the one story that I really want to work on. But somehow, films have been happening and I’m really glad that they are. And when I find a story like that, I can go back with the same zeal and dedication I had for the prior one.”
