‘Even Amitabh Bachchan asked me, Mohanlal how did you…’: When the Malayalam GOAT left Big B stunned with his performance

Mohanlal said that his ‘guru’ instilled the confidence in him, and he continued, “I don’t know how, but I memorised it. Normally, you have to rehearse a play many times, but I did it in eight days. I don’t know how I did it. I performed the play, and then they asked me to do it again. So, I did it in Bombay. I still don’t know how… Recently, I was reading the script, and I said, ‘My God, how did I do this?’ It’s a blessing.”

He admitted that he would become tense when he forgot a line or two, because he knew that he couldn’t improvise in any other language. But gradually, the lines would come to him. Recalling another incident, he said, “Same thing happened with Vanaprastham, with Santosh Sivan. All the masters are in that film, and I’m the only one performing Kathakali. Nobody can do such things. Even Amitabh Bachchan asked, ‘Mohanlal, how did you do the Kathakali?'”

Mohanlal is now gearing up for the release of his new film Barroz 3D: Guardian of Treasures, which he also stars in. He said that he has no intention of directing again, because he has accomplished unprecedented technical milestones with the film.
