The movie, focusing on romance and remembrance, is the first Basque-language entry to represent Spain, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Directed by Jon Garano and Jose Maria Goenaga, the story revolves around a woman named Ane, who mysteriously receives flowers regularly.

After her secret admirer is suddenly killed in a car accident, she gets to know his identity, and when she begins to leave flowers at the site of his death once a week, the man’s widow and mother discover there was more to him.

Spain’s last win in this category came in 2005, for Alejandro Amenabar’s “The Sea Inside”.

88th Academy Awards will take place on February 28, 2016, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
