With The Golden Globes done, and Oscars right around the corner, it was time for the 31st Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards that celebrates the best performances in films and television in 2024. With winners selected by the guild members, more often than not, this is considered to be a sign of things to come at the Academy Awards. An interesting lineup of films and television shows are in the race, which makes it all the more difficult to zero in on a winner considering the variety in genres. The show, which was streamed live on Netflix, was hosted by second-time host Kristen Bell, who was chosen to be the first person to host the SAG awards in 2018. It was the first time SAG had a host in its then 23-year-old history. The lifetime achievement award was presented to Jane Fonda, who received it from Julia Louis Dreyfuss. While Conclave took home the best ensemble cast prize in films, Shogun and Only Murders in the Building took home the same in television (drama), and television (comedy) categories.
