Release of ‘Blade Runner’ sequel moved up

The sequel to Ridley Scott's neo-noir dystopia "Blade Runner'', is now set to hit theaters on Oct. 6, 2017 _ months ahead of its originally planned February 2018 release.

The future is coming sooner than expected. The sequel to Ridley Scott’s neo-noir dystopia “Blade Runner”, is now set to hit theaters on Oct. 6, 2017 ,  months ahead of its originally planned February 2018 release.

Alcon Entertainment announced the plans Wednesday. Scott will executive produce the film, which begins principal photography this summer with ‘Sicario’ director Denis Villeneuve at the helm.

Harrison Ford will reprise his role as Rick Deckard in the sequel, which takes place a few decades after the events of the first film.

The sequel also stars Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright and Dave Bautista.

Upon its release, critics were mixed on ‘Blade Runner’, which underwhelmed at the box office. Decades and many versions later, the film has become a sci-fi classic and one of Ford’s most iconic roles.
