They start going through different doors together, soon realising that these are gateways to past memories. David makes a visit to his high school on the same day he got rejected by a girl he loved, while Sarah visits her mother from when she was sick and has since then passed away. The trailer seems to suggest that the doors don’t take them to some random memories but take them to times which made an impact on their lives. Although, later on, David says, “I want to go back to a time when I thought everything would work out for me,” so it’s unclear whether they can control their destinations.

A Big Bold Beautiful Journey seems to revolve around the theme of companionship and choosing to be happy in one’s life. Although the film allows them to go into their past and maybe learn from it, David’s last dialogue in the trailer is about accepting one’s reality and sharing it with someone. He says, “No matter who you are in your life, you just need someone to share it with.”

Apart from Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell, the cast of the film also includes Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Hamish Linklater, Billy Magnussen, Lily Rabe, Jodie Turner-Smith and Yuvi Hecth.
