Even if Robert Downey Jr surpasses every single antagonist ever with his portrayal of Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday, Thanos will always hold a very important place in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His pursuit of intergalactic balance gave birth to the MCU's most beloved arc. However, the actor who played him, Josh Brolin, once actually took a break from acting because he just couldn't afford to pay the rent. While appearing on Guy Raz's podcast, Brolin was asked by the host about his hiatus from Hollywood and why he chose to do it. He said, "I had to. I had to make money. I had children that were going to school, and I just wasn't making money. If you're lucky enough to make $100k a year, which I wasn't, then you're clearing $30k after taxes. On top of it, you have a lawyer and a manager, which I had back then. It just wasn't cutting it." "I met a guy, Brett Markinson, on the aeroplane. We really hit it off, and we laughed a lot. He was an entrepreneur, but he traded too, and he was very disciplined. I was just curious because it was another thing to be curious about. I am in a profession that works really well for me because I am an insatiably curious person, so I can delve into these other mentalities, and then I can leave it, and I don't have to do it my whole life." He added, "I still adore Brett to this day, and he was telling me about trading. He is a guy who loves to teach, and I am someone who doesn't mind asking the same question 50 times until I understand. I went, and I got my trade station. I had three screens, and I had all my graphs, and I kept thinking, 'I don't know what all this means.' I didn't understand it. On top of it, I am talking to all these billionaires on Wall Street, and I have all this knowledge. So then I have the ability to be able to talk to them about finances and discipline." Josh Brolin then revealed that his days as a day trader were much more lucrative than his acting gigs and that he has now transitioned into long-term trading. "It was an interesting thing for me to get into, and when I was into it, like at the peak, I had made more money than I ever made acting, for sure, by far. It wasn't just because one stock just went to the roof. I was very disciplined," said Brolin.
