Writer Drew Pearce has hinted the untitled “Ghostbusters” spin-off, which was earlier said to be cancelled, might still happen with actors Channing Tatum and Chris Pratt taking on lead roles.

Pearce spoke about the possibility in an interview with MTV at the New York premiere of “Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation”, writer Drew Pearce hinted that the project, which eyed Chris Pratt and Channing Tatum as leading actors, might still happen.

“Oh yeah. I’ve finished my work on that in the last couple weeks. Obviously it’s top secret, but there’s a gigantic bold idea that I came up with, and the Russo brothers and Ivan Reitman, who did the original movie, are going to take that and run with it,” the writer said.

“Obviously I cannot tell you what it is, but hopefully in one year’s time you’ll know!”

When asked about the involvement of Pratt and Tatum in the movie, Pearce confirmed, “That’s definitely the cast we’ve been thinking about as we approach the project. Whether that happens or not is very much above my pay grade.

“It’s just my job to give them something exciting that maybe they’ll do.”

Peace did not want to confirm that the movie would really happen. Instead, he asked fans to wait for some time to know whether it happens or not.

“My personal inclination is to try and make everything occur in the same Ghostbusters universe, because I feel, as a fan, that’s what I would want. Here in New York, you just wanna tie it all together. Whether that happens or not we’ll see, but I’ve certainly given them the tools to do that, I hope,” he said.

Back in March, the “Ghostbusters” spin-off was reported to have Pratt and Tatum in the cast. Pratt denied the rumors and Tatum’s producing partner Reid Carolin said it wasn’t happening anymore.
