Indian Express Ratings:*1/2
Do dance movies deserve no plot? This is what came to me as I sat through 90 minutes of intermittent dancing strung together by badly acted passages. Actually,it can’t even be called acting. It’s more like reading out the lines.
This is a sequel to a film that released in 2010,and what you get is essentially more of the same. Dancers with bodies made of elastic that bend and sway to the beats of hip hop and salsa. Some of the dancing in this one is not bad,but nothing blew me away. The one line story is about how the Europe’s best street dancers have to compete for the first position in a contest six weeks after the protagonists come together.
There’s the usual falling out between two good looking leads ( Boutella and Hentschel) : at least she can dance,he is just a hunk who can’t. There is the usual funny boy ( Sampson) who’s the fellow who gets them back together. And there’s the usual filling up the dance floor with whirling, dancing girls and guys. I love dance movies, but not when they are so dull, and standard procedure.
