Rihanna has reportedly asked boyfriend Chris to issue a public apology to her on The Oprah Winfrey Show.

In a bid to reclaim her public image of an independent career woman,Rihanna has reportedly asked boyfriend Chris Brown to issue a public apology to her on The Oprah Winfrey Show for the infamous pre-Grammy assault episode.

The 21-year-old singer who reconciled with Brown just weeks after the incident has asked the 19-year-old singer to seek forgiveness on prime time television and “publicly denounce his behavior”,reported Look magazine.

“Oprah suggested that Rihanna tell Chris that despite their recent commitment ceremony,she’s been having second thoughts about them being back together. And agreeing to go on Oprah’s show and tell the world how sorry he is will help makeup her mind,” the magazine quoted a source close to the singer.

R&B singer Brown,whose career took a hit after the incident refused at first but is considering the option now.

“He said no at first,but bought himself some time by saying he needed to think about it with his mother Joyce. But he’s desperate to win over the American public and he’s realized this could be the perfect way.”

“Rihanna’s trump card may be that Chris is desperate to avoid jail and thinks prosecutors will go easier on him if he expresses public contrition,” the insider added.

Brown was charged with two counts of felony for allegedly assaulting and threatening Rihanna this month in the incident,which shocked both music industry insiders and the American public.
