It’s the season of remakes on the big screen. Following in the footsteps of the Don series and Agneepath, the Hindi rights for Magadheera,a 2009 Telegu historical romance directed by SS Rajamouli and produced by Allu Aravind, have been bagged by Vikas Bahl and Anurag Kashyap’s Phantom Productions. The film revolves around a stuntman with a back story — every time he meets his girlfriend he is reminded of his past life in which he was a brave warrior and a passionate lover. “It’s a big-scale production with a budget of Rs 50 crore. We plan to start shooting this year,” says Bahl. There were rumours that Ranbir Kapoor had been roped in for the film. However,it is his namesake Band Baja Baaraat actor Ranveer Singh who will play the lead. The search is on for the leading lady.
