Rakht Charitra goes back to editing table

RGV has agreed to delete certain scenes from the film which portray former CM NT Rama Rao in a poor light.

Ram Gopal Varma,who will surely go down in history as a lateral thinking director,is all gung ho about his recently released Rakht Charitra. But just like all his past films,this one had to come with its share of controversies. The new one being the protests carried out by Telugu Desam Party (TDP) asking the director to delete certain scenes that project former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao in poor light in his film.

After the protestors took to the streets and even stopped screenings in certain theatres,that Varma,agreed to delete the scenes and dialogues that are deemed to be found objectionable.

Though Ramu felt that the people staging these protests were ones who hadn’t even seen the film,he did say that he himself was a big fan of the former CM and that if seen in a larger context of the film,one would grasp the essence of those scenes and dialogues in the film.

Protestors in Anantapur,Hindupur,Eluru,Visakhapatnam,Karimnagar and other towns gathered outside theatres,raised slogans against Varma and burnt his effigy. They demanded a ban on the movie.

Where TDP chief N. Chandraprabhu demanded that the director apologises,NTR’s second wife Lakshmi Parvathi also felt that the scenes were in bad taste. Family of Obul Reddy,one of the characters in the film also feels that even his own projection in the film isn’t right.

The film,based on the factional war between two families in Anantapur,is the talk of the town as the followers of both the families waited to see if their leaders are projected right and as heroes or villains.

Locals even had an issue with Varma using the name of the district in the film. They forced him to change it too Anandapuram.

With RGV giving into the demands of the protestors,one just hopes that the film goes on from here without any more hassles.
