Manoj Kumar to flag off the Indian Panorama section at IFFI on November 21
Twenty six films from all over India to be screened
The highlight will be a glimpse of Japan through a selection of animation and fiction feature films
The opening ceremony of the 44th International Film Festival will be held on November 20 at the Football grounds near Kala Academy in Panjim,this year. On November 21,Manoj Kumar will officially flag off the Indian Panorama section. Twenty six feature films from across India including the Hindi biopic Bhaag Milkha Bhaag,Jal,Listen Amaya,OMG! Oh My God,Paan Singh Tomar and Ship Of Theseus will be screened.
Besides featuring the best of world cinema,the festival will touch upon the nuances of emerging trends in cinema. Around 160 foreign films under various categories will bring to India works of iconic film personalities. The highlight of this section will be a glimpse of Japan through a selection of animation and fiction feature films. The Lifetime Achievement Award will be bestowed on renowned Czech filmmaker,theater director,actor and scenarist Jiri Menzel and his film,The Don Juans will also open the Festival.
The Malayalam film Kanyaka Talkies,directed by K.R. Manoj,will open the festival while Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom,directed by Justin Chadwick,will be the closing film. The festival will be attended by Academy award winning actor Susan Sarandon,Iranian director Majid Majidi,Polish film-maker Agnieszka Holland,along with luminaries from Indian cinema including actor Rekha and singer Asha Bhosle.
