‘Aarakshan’ gets pirated in UP

'Aarakshan' may be banned in Uttar Pradesh but the film is already available on pirated CDs for just Rs 20.

Filmmaker Prakash Jha’s controversial film ‘Aarakshan’ may be banned in Uttar Pradesh but the film is already available on pirated CDs for just Rs 20.

The movie,which is based on caste-based reservation in the Indian education system,released last Friday in India excluding UP and some other states.

And the ban has only improved the business for such CDs.

“The film released on Friday and by Saturday evening we had the pirated CDs with us. On the first day their was craze amongst people to watch the movie so we were selling it at Rs 50 but now it is decreasing so we have reduced it to Rs 20,” said a vendor.

The film stars Amitabh Bachchan,Saif Ali Khan,Deepika Padukone,Prateik and Manoj Bajpai.

When asked about it,Shailendra Singh,the Additional Distric Megistrate of Kanpur (City) said they were looking into the matter.

“I have asked the police and entertainment section officials to cease these shops which are selling these pirated CD’s,” said Singh.
