Actor and former cricketer Yograj Singh recalled the strict rules that he imposed upon his first wife, Shabnam, while declaring that he was going to turn their son, Yuvraj Singh, into the greatest cricketer that the world had ever seen. Yograj has admitted many times that his tactics alienated him from his family, who declared that he was mad. He said in a recent interview that he invited his wife to leave him if she was so concerned about Yuvraj's well-being, and said that even his mother was concerned for Yuvraj. On her death bed, she begged him to spare the child. In an interview with SMTV, Yograj said that he laid down strict rules for his wife, and admitted that his family is not really in touch with him any more. He had two more children with his second wife, and admitted that the only time in his life that he has come close to crying was when Yuvraj and his mother left him. He said that his actions alienated his family from him, and affected his personal relationships. "I don't act on screen; this is who I really am," he said. It started with my wife. She wasn't allowed to leave the house without my permission. Her family wasn't allowed to enter my house, and if they did, they were not allowed to give me advice. When we had a son, I told my mother that I have a fire inside me to make him into a legend. I vowed to take revenge on everybody who had wronged me, including Kapil Dev, through my son," he said. Asked if his failure caused the end of his cricketing career or if he was treated unfairly, Yograj picked the latter. "It was my way or the highway. If I say it's night, it's night; if I say it's day, it's day. My family couldn't digest this; they thought this was my weakness, but I believe this is what gave me an edge." He denied having ever felt emotional, or having cried. He said that he has trained himself to become hard as steel. "Yes, I become emotional when I bow before my God. I felt tears in my eyes when my mother died; I became an orphan that day. I became emotional when Yuvi and his mother left, but I stopped myself," he said. Yuvraj married former actor Hazel Keech in 2016; they have two children — son Orion and daughter Aura. Yograj Singh’s filmography includes films of all languages.
