‘Yash Chopra wanted to cast Aishwarya Rai for Darr, didn’t work out because of Miss World pageant,’ recalls Neeta Lulla

Aishwarya, on many occasions, has spoken about working with Yash Chopra and how he was the filmmaker who convinced her to start working in the movies even before she became Miss India. Aishwarya was a popular model here even before she became a beauty queen.

“Yashji is very special to me because he is one of the reasons that I am in the film industry. He is one of the main reasons because he is the one who kept talking to me for two years before I joined the industry, to convince me,” she shared in a 2012 event, as per IANS. She also added, “He always used to tease me, he used to say become an architect, design my sets and then you will definitely come in front of the camera, I’ll see to it. So he is just such a special person even to me.”

Aishwarya’s first project with YRF was Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan starrer Mohabbatein. She eventually appeared in many other YRF films but never worked in a Yash Chopra directorial.
