Bollywood actor Yami Gautam is quite vocal about her opinions on the film industry. Earlier this month, she had tweeted about the film industry’s PR machinery, and had stressed that her work should speak for itself. Now, the actor has explained why she would never indulge in paid PR activities to get people talking about her work.

During the promotions of her recently released Netflix film Chor Nikal Ke Bhaaga, Yami shared that she does have a PR team, but it works in accordance with her personality. She told Pinkvilla, “While we are working in the show business, I do have a PR team, but they have to work in accordance with my personality. I don’t know how to exaggerate about my work, and that’s an art, I do not discredit who does it, to each his own, bohot hard life hai ye (It’s a difficult life), everyone is trying to make it in their own way.”

But personally, Yami said she won’t ever pay money to someone to write or say good things about her work. She added, “I don’t want to participate in anything where I have to pay you to say good things about me. I would rather work hard on the set. If you’ll write well about me organically, I will like it, I will appreciate it, but beyond that, I won’t like it.”

A few days back, a Twitter user had advised Yami to hire a better PR team to highlight her work. To this, the actor replied, “I see the power of PR heavy activities/ reviews/ trend/ perceptions/ image etc which actors are relying on, and I judge no one. But I am a strong believer in ‘YOUR WORK IS YOUR BEST PR’. It’s a longer route but takes you the correct way.”

Yami Gautam began her acting career in Bollywood with the 2012 film Vicky Donor, co-starring Ayushmann Khurrana. She went on to star in films such as Kaabil, Sarkar 3, Thursday, Uri: The Surgical Strike, and Bala.
