Will Shah Rukh Khan appear as a guest on Koffee with Karan this season? Karan Johar says ‘he’s there but…’

Karan Johar revealed if Shah Rukh Khan will be a guest on this year's Koffee with Karan. SRK has previously appeared in seven episodes of the long running series.

When Karan Johar started his talk show Koffee with Karan in 2004, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol were his first guests. This year, when Shah Rukh has delivered two of the biggest hits of the year, and hasn’t appeared on any talk shows, fans have been curious to know if the Badshah of Bollywood will come back on the Koffee couch on the eighth season of the show. In a recent chat, Karan addressed the query and it seems like this won’t please SRK fans who have been dying to watch him on a chat show.

Talking to fans on Pinkvilla, Karan said that Shah Rukh “is there” but doesn’t want to be in forefront. He said, “With all reason, I think.. he’s there but I don’t think he wants to be in the forefront and speak and I think he deserves his silence. I think we as fans and filmmakers should give him that.”

Shah Rukh Khan has appeared in seven episodes of Koffee with Karan. He was last seen with Alia Bhatt in the premiere episode of Season 5, back in 2016, shortly before the release of their film Dear Zindagi.

Shah Rukh was seen in Pathaan earlier this year which was credited with bringing the audience back to theatres after the pandemic lull. In September, his film Jawan became the biggest domestic Hindi grosser of all time. With these two movies, SRK proved that his fans had been dying to watch him on the silver screen ever since the actor went on a hiatus after 2018’s Zero.

Even though this has been the biggest year for Shah Rukh Khan in his 30-year-long career, the actor has refrained from giving interviews. He has interacted with his fans in success meets of both these films, audio launch of Jawan and his many #AskSRK sessions on X (formerly Twitter). Shah Rukh will next be seen in Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki, which is scheduled to release in December.
