“The sky is yours.” That’s how Akshay Kumar gave a heartfelt shoutout to his niece Simar Bhatia, who is all set to make her Bollywood debut in Sriram Raghavan’s Ikkis. Simar recently featured on the cover of a newspaper alongside other star kids debuting this year, including Raveena Tandon’s daughter Rasha Thadani, Ajay Devgn’s nephew Aaman Devgan, and Saif Ali Khan-Amrita Singh’s son Ibrahim Ali Khan.

Akshay penned a touching note for Simar, congratulating her on her milestone. He wrote, “I remember the first time I saw my photo on the cover of the newspaper. I thought that’s the ultimate happiness. But today I know the happiness of seeing your child’s photo here beats everything.”

On this occasion, Akshay also fondly remembered his late mother and Simar’s grandmother, Aruna Bhatia. He wrote, “I wish my mom was here today and she would have said ‘Simar puttar Tu tah Kamaal hai (Dear, Simmar, you have done wonders)’. Bless you my baby, the sky is yours.” Simar later reshared Akshay’s post on her Instagram Stories and responded to his heartfelt words, particularly referencing his upcoming film Sky Force. She wrote, “That’s because you are protecting the skies #SkyForce. Love you.”

Who is Simar Bhatia?

Simar Bhatia is the daughter of Akshay Kumar’s sister, Alka Bhatia. Alka, a film producer, married Vaibhav Kapoor in 1997, and they welcomed their firstborn, Simar. However, the couple eventually parted ways. In 2012, Alka married real estate tycoon Surendra Hiranandani.

Simar has been steadily gaining attention on Instagram, where she currently boasts over 12.7K followers, a number that continues to grow. Till now Simar has kept her social media presence understated, refraining from posting photos with her family members. However, she has shared glimpses of her holidays, childhood and moments with her college friends in the USA, where she pursued higher education. Recently, she posted a picture from her photoshoot and captioned it, “And so it begins 🙏❤️,” marking her official entry into the Hindi film industry.

Simar is all set to make her big Bollywood debut in Sriram Raghavan’s Ikkis, where she will star alongside Agastya Nanda, the grandson of Amitabh Bachchan. The film also features veteran actors Dharmendra and Jaideep Ahlawat. Ikkis, set against the backdrop of the 1971 Indo-Pak war, tells the story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, who was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his extraordinary bravery. The film is produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films and is slated for release later this year.
