Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga is prepared to shock the audience. If they thought his 2019 blockbuster romantic drama Kabir Singh was “violent”, the filmmaker said he is going to show what true violence will be with his next, Animal.

Headlined by Ranbir Kapoor, Animal is billed as an action gangster drama. The film’s pre-teaser was launched on Sunday, giving a glimpse of the film’s world of blood, action and style, set to a thumping Punjabi song.

In a throwback video that has surfaced on the internet, Sandeep Reddy Vanga was seen talking about Animal–much before its official announcement was made. In an interview with Anupama Chopra, when she mentioned that she hopes his next after Kabir Singh generates less criticism, the filmmaker said, “It will be more,” and laughed.

“It will be more. These guys are calling this (Kabir Singh) a violent film, I want to tell them I will show them what a violent film will be. Now I am curious, how these guys are going to react. I don’t hate them, (but) I want to see how they feel about my next film. I am waiting, seriously. Someone called it a violent film, so I was taken aback. We will see,” he had said.

Animal, set to release on August 11, also stars Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Triptii Dimri, and Rashmika Mandanna. This will be his third feature film after the Telugu hit Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh, Hindi remake of the former.

In an interview with Good Times, Ranbir Kapoor had revealed his reaction after listening to the narration of Animal. He said, “I had to go to my bathroom and look at myself in the mirror, and I got scared. I’ve never felt scared of a story of a character.”
