When Diljit Dosanjh had to land a chopper at a car parking to avoid delay in concert: ‘Everybody thought he was making an entry’
Diljit Dosanjh's manager Sonali Singh recounted an incident where the singer had no choice but to land a chopper in a car parking to prevent delay in his show.

Diljit Dosanjh is known for his knack for setting records. Last month, the singer made history by performing at Coachella, becoming the first Punjabi singer to grace the stage at the renowned music festival. In a recent interview, Diljit’s manager Sonali Singh reflected on his Coachella performance and its significance for the Indian community.
In an interaction on the YouTube channel Chai With T, Sonali said, “It was not just Diljit being at Coachella. It was not just him being the first Indian or Punjabi artiste to perform there. The whole community felt that we all made it to Coachella. It was a very proud and an overwhelming moment. The moment he goes on stage, I start crying and it is for every single performance he does. The moment he goes on stage and starts performing, I have goosebumps every single time. I am crying backstage somewhere in the corner.”
The life of a performer is riddled with uncertainty, and sometimes the unpredictability can land them in challenging situations. During the conversation, Sonali Singh discussed the unpredictable nature of her and Diljit Dosanjh’s profession and how they have become adept at managing stress. She recounted an incident where Diljit had to resort to unconventional measures, such as landing a chopper in a car parking to prevent a delay in his show.
She shared, “We had a show in Jalandhar and we booked a chopper from Amritsar to not waste time. But the chopper got delayed by 15 minutes, then half-an-hour and then one hour. Then it got so late and that even if we would have started the journey by car, we wouldn’t have reached on time. What do you do in that situation? When you know that there are thousands of people waiting for you. We were anxious at that time, we were stressed. However, the intensity of stress has gone down now. There are still such unpredictable days but we have made our peace with it.”
She added, “But then the chopper did arrive. The chopper was suppose to land at some other place but since we got so late, the pilot landed the chopper at the car parking right behind the stage. Everybody thought Diljit was making an entry by landing on stage by chopper but that wasn’t the entry we planned. It just worked in our favour. Universe always works in your favour.”
Diljit Dosanjh’s career is currently soaring high. Not only did he deliver a career-defining performance in the much-acclaimed film Amar Singh Chamkila, but he also made history by selling out a show at the BC Place stadium in Vancouver, performing to an audience of over 54,000 people.
