Vivek Oberoi, son of veteran actor Suresh Oberoi, made his acting debut in the 2002 crime film Company, but his struggle to make a name in the industry began long before that. In a recent interaction, Vivek shared how he once assisted choreographer and director Farah Khan and even cleaned rehearsal rooms because he never revealed that he came from a film family.

Speaking to Mashable India, Vivek said, “To train, I used to assist Farah for a long time. I started from cleaning the rehearsal rooms and bringing tea to all the dancers and from there I went up. I never told anybody who my dad was. I kept that out.”

Vivek also recalled a near-fatal accident in which he narrowly escaped death while travelling to a shoot location. He shared, “During shooting for the film Road and I was driving from Bikaner to Jaisalmer at night. I had warned the driver 10-15 times to drive slowly because it is night time and visibility is low. I was sitting in the front seat and after this incident now, I never sit in the front seat. I reclined my seat and suddenly a huge crash happened. There was massive sound.”

He added, “What happened was, on the road, a camel cart came from the side suddenly, and there were iron rods on the cart. And those iron rods smashed the windshield and penetrated through the car. If I would not have reclined my seat, those iron rods would have just gone through me. I couldn’t get out of the car because the iron rods were stuck on top of my head, but I was unscratched. I almost died after that. I vowed to never travel at night.”

Vivek is currently busy promoting his new film Masti 4, in which he stars alongside Aftab Shivdasani and Riteish Deshmukh. During the interaction, he also recalled pulling a prank on Aftab when they shot the first Masti in 2004. He shared, “Aftab has bought his new Mercedes when we were shooting for Masti aur hum logo ne bakra kia tha iska. We stole his car keys, and we parked it somewhere else, two lanes behind where Aftab had parked it. Then we quietly kept key near Aftab, and when he came out… His expressions… his blood pressure just dropped. He told us not to prank him with his car.”
