Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, known for his thought-provoking and politically charged films, has never shied away from expressing his opinions on social media. Recently, the filmmaker said he only writes about things he is aware of and concentrates on Bollywood because he wants the industry to transform and reach new heights.

In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, the Kashmir Files director said, “I never speak on things I don’t understand. I never speak on this language conflicts and stuff like that.” But, he added that he speaks about Bollywood because he wants to “change” it.

“I don’t have a grudge but I say things about Bollywood because I want Bollywood to change. I want Bollywood to reinvent itself and become the world’s best film industry. I want Bollywood to become a soft power for India and not a laughing stock. Everywhere you go, people are, ‘Ha ha ha, your songs are good, your costumes are beautiful and everyone wants to copy costumes, nobody wants to copy our story. So, with good concern I say that,” Agnihotri said.

Vivek Agnihotri is married to actor Pallavi Joshi, who was a part of The Kashmir Files. While the filmmaker is quite active on social media, she is not on Twitter. But she often gets to know what her husband has posted on the microblogging site.

She spoke about her reaction to Vivek’s Twitter game and said, “As a family, we all keep correcting each other on various issues. So there is always a conversation that I heard that you wrote this, why did you write this and then he explains it to me. We always hear people talking about space in a marriage and nobody actually gives it to each other, so here I have given full space to Vivek. This is something that makes him happy and I also think I like people who talk a lot.”

The filmmaker recently released the trailer of his upcoming series ‘The Kashmir Files Unreported.’
