‘Virat Kohli was literally crying, he blamed himself’: Varun Dhawan reveals what Anushka Sharma told him about about Virat’s mindset
Varun Dhawan gushed about Anushka Sharma, and said that she's a supremely evolved person who went on a spiritual path early in her career.

Actor Varun Dhawan described his Sui Dhaaga co-star Anushka Sharma as an evolved person, and expressed his regret that he didn’t start out sooner, as he would’ve had more chances to work with her. Anushka is semi-retired at this point; her last release came six years ago, in 2018. She is now committed to raising her two children with husband, cricketer Virat Kohli. In an interview, Varun described Virat as a ‘very desi’ person, and spoke about Anushka’s influence in his life.
Appearing on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, Varun said that Anushka shared some insights about Virat’s mindset with him. “It was at the Nottingham Test, when India lost. She said that she didn’t attend that game. She came back and didn’t know where Virat was. She went to the room and saw him, literally crying. He blamed himself, even though he was the highest scorer that day,” he said.
Opening up more about Anushka Sharma as a person, Varun Dhawan said, “Anushka is the kind of person, anybody’s life that she enters, she will… She’s such a real person. People become uncomfortable because of her realness sometimes. She says the rights things at the right time. She embarked upon a very evolved spiritual path at a very young age, I feel. She lets people be the way they are also.”
Varun continued, “She doesn’t tolerate injustice. I spent a lot of time with her just talking during Sui Dhaaga. We were shooting in a village, and we would sit on rocking chairs and just talk.” Asked what the general public doesn’t know about her, he said, “They don’t know anything about her. And she doesn’t care if the world knows or doesn’t know.”
Anushka Sharma’s comeback film, the sports drama Chakda ‘Xpress, has been indefinitely delayed. It was supposed to be released on Netflix. Varun Dhawan will next be seen in the action film Baby John, due out on Christmas Day.
