Vijay Varma and Rajkumar Hirani were the guests at the Creator X Creator session during the unveiling of SCREEN in Mumbai on Friday. During the event, the actor and director discussed the impact of trolling on an artist’s mindset and shared their thoughts on how best to handle such negativity. Vijay highlighted how many trolls and negative comments are often paid for, stressing the need to curb such practices.

Speaking at the event, Vijay said “What hurts me the most is that innocent people might think these comments are real, but some of it is so motivated and paid for, which has been the biggest shock. This is something that really needs to be addressed. Earlier, when a film released, people would talk about it, and friends would even argue over it. We didn’t have a platform to voice our opinions back then. But now, we live in a time when there is a platform and people say whatever they want to say and we can’t do anything about that. But something that has a monetary attachment to it, should be curbed.”

Rajkumar Hirani, on the other hand, shared that he has completely removed himself from all social media platforms and it has improved his life. “Few years back, I used to find the world very disturbing and evil and then I switched off Twitter and Instagram and suddenly, the world is seeming very nice to me. We are living in a world of necessary evil. Unless there is a way to stop certain comments or that kind of a thing, all we can do is stop reading it. I don’t even switch on TV honestly,” he said.
