The family of a 39-year-old technician from Kerala, who was found dead in an apartment in Bengaluru on November 7, have accused two of his women flatmates of abetment of suicide following his death.

According to the Bengaluru police, the man, who hailed from Thiruvananthapuram and was working at a medical transcription firm for over four years, was found dead in the bathroom of the apartment he shared with two of his women friends.

The police said one of his flatmates found his body in the bathroom of the second-floor apartment at around 4.30 am on November 7.

In his police complaint, the man’s younger brother said he received a phone call from one of the flatmates at 5 am on November 7, saying his brother had died by suicide in the bathroom. He rushed to Bengaluru from Kerala, and identified his brother’s body at the St John’s Hospital mortuary later that day.

The younger brother filed a complaint of abetment of suicide on November 8 against the two women who shared the apartment with his brother. He stated in his police complaint that he learned from conversations with the two women that there was a discord between them and his brother due to their personal relationships.

His complaint said the deceased brother was involved in a relationship with one of the women before his death, and there was acrimony among the flatmates because he had previously been in a relationship with the other flatmate as well.

The Hulimavu police registered a case of abetment of suicide under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the two women on the basis of the complaint filed by the younger brother.
