The last month of the season brings most things to a standstill as time to ring in the new year gets closer with friends and family in tow. Making those times special are movies and TV shows to watch as a group. For that, there is nothing better and bigger than Zoya Akhtar-directed The Archies. The much-awaited release hits Netflix on December 7.
Zoya Akhtar has another project set for December release in the form of Kho Gaye Hum Kahan which is a coming-of-age-digital-story of three friends. Making it a big month for Netflix is the second part of The Crown Season 6.
BTS Monuments: Beyond the Star is the one to watch on Disney+ Hotstar. It is an eight-part docuseries on the highly successful and followed South Korean band BTS.
Mission Raniganj: Netflix

The Akshay Kumar-led drama, Mission Raniganj is up for its digital premiere on December 1 on Netflix. The film is based on a true event that occurred in November 1989 in Raniganj, West Bengal, when 65 workers found themselves trapped inside a flooded coal mine. Upon its release in theatres in September, the film didn’t receive a favourable review from the film critics. The Indian Express’ film critic Shubhra Gupta wrote in her review of the film, “Despite Akshay Kumar’s sincere performance, the film comes off as a tiresome plod.”

Actor Naga Chaitanya’s debut web series is a supernatural suspense thriller. The eight-episode series, directed by Vikram K Kumar, also stars Parvathy Thiruvothu, Priya Bhavani Shankar, and Prachi Desai. According to the official synopsis, death starts to follow people around Sagar (Naga Chaitanya), as he discovers “shreds of newspapers predicting horrific incidents that go beyond his worst nightmare.”

The Archies will premiere on Netflix on December 7.
Zoya Akhtar’s much-awaited film The Archies, starring star kids Suhana Khan, Ananya Panday and Agastya Nanda along with Mihir Ahuja, Dot., Vedang Raina and Yuvraj Menda, is the Indian adaptation of the beloved classic of the same name. The film’s trailer looked refreshing and promising as it offered a glimpse into the world of the film, set in the fictional hilly town of Riverdale, in the ’60s India. The coming-of-age musical revolves around the lives of Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, Reggie, Ethel and Dilton.
Chamak: SonyLIV

The musical thriller Chamak revolves around a young rapper Kaala who moves from Canada to Punjab and steps into the Punjabi music industry to avenge the death of a legendary singer. As he begins his journey in the Punjabi music industry, he discovers a whole new world of politics, business feuds, and family secrets. The series is backed by an ensemble cast including actors Paramvir Singh Cheema, Manoj Pahwa, Mohit Malik, Isha Talwar, Mukesh Chhabra, Prince Kanwaljit Singh, Suvinder (Vicky) Pal, and Akasa Singh. It features a guest appearance by Gippy Grewal.
Kadak Singh: ZEE5

Pankaj Tripathi’s Kadak Singh will stream on ZEE5.
The Pankaj Tripathi-led film follows the life of AK Shrivastav aka Kadak Singh, a Joint Director at the Department of Financial Crimes who is battling retrograde amnesia. Billed as an engaging thriller, the film is directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury of Pink and Lost fame. “Amidst the process of piecing together his life, the film delves into his quest to expose the truth behind a significant financial crime,” read the official synopsis.
The Crown Season 6 Part 2: Netflix

“With the Commonwealth irrevocably changed, Queen Elizabeth II reflects on her life and legacy, and paves the way for her successors Charles and William,” reads the official description of The Crown Season 6 Part 2. Luther Ford will play the older version of Prince Harry in the upcoming six episodes. Created and written by Peter Morgan, the series also stars Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret, Dominic West as Prince Charles, Claudia Harrison as Princess Anne, Bertie Carvel as Tony Blair, Salim Daw as Mohamed Al Fayed and Khalid Abdalla as Dodi Fayed. The first four episodes of the sixth season premiered on the streaming giant on November 16.
The Freelancer The Conclusion: Disney+Hotstar

The remaining episode of Mohit Raina’s led thriller The Freelancer will stream on Disney Plus Hotstar on December 15. Directed by Bhav Dhulia, the first part of the series had Raina’s Avinash Kamath on a rescue mission to bring back Aliya from Syria. The series is based on the book titled A Ticket To Syria by Shirish Thorat and also stars Anupam Kher.
Rebel Moon Part 1: Netflix

Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon follows the story of a peaceful agrarian colony on the edge of the galaxy that finds itself threatened by the armies of the Imperium and its dark leader, the tyrannical Regent Balisarius. The citizens of the colony send Kora, played by Sofia Boutella, a young woman with a mysterious past, to seek out warriors from neighbouring planets to take a stand. The film’s star cast includes Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Anthony Hopkins, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Fra Fee, Stuart Martin, Cary Elwes, and Corey Stoll, among others.
Maestro: Netflix

Maestro is Bradley Cooper’s second time at direction after the Oscar-nominated 2018 film A Star Is Born. The “fearless love story” is based on the life of Leonard Bernstein, played by Cooper. The film tries to follow his life with his wife Felicia Montealegre. Previously, Maestro was to be directed by Martin Scorsese but the director stepped back as he wanted to work on The Irishman.
BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star: Disney+Hotstar

The Korean boy band BTS marks its 10th anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, Disney+ Hotstar is releasing an 8-episode docu-series featuring interviews, performances and behind the scenes moments with band members RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook. It will highlight the band’s 10-year career, emphasising their highs and lows.
What If…?: Disney+Hotstar

The popular animated series, What If…?, reimagines certain characters and events from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). “The series questions, revisits and twists classic Marvel Cinematic moments with an incredible voice cast that includes a host of stars who reprise their iconic roles,” a press release stated. The first season, which came out in 2021, featured original MCU actors like Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and others.
Kho Gaye Hum Kahan: Netflix

Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday and Adarsh Gourav-starrer Kho Gaye Hum Kahan will stream on Netflix.
The ‘coming-of-digital-age’ story about three friends in their mid-20s navigating life in the world of social media, Kho Gaye Hum Kahan will have a direct-to-OTT release in December 26. The film is headlined by Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday and Adarsh Gourav. Helmed by debutant director Arjun Varain Singh, the film is expected to resonate with the younger generation. It is is bankrolled by Excel Entertainment’s Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar in collaboration with Tiger Baby’s Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar.
