Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge changed the lives of many actors and technicians who were associated with the film. And those who missed that chance, still regret that they couldn’t be a part of this iconic movie. Actor Milind Gunaji, who appeared in films like Virasat, Fareb among others, is one of those actors. Milind, in a recent interview, shared that he was offered a role in Aditya Chopra’s DDLJ but due to his commitment with other films, he missed the opportunity to be a part of the Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol movie.

In a chat with Rajshri Unplugged, Milind said that he was offered the role of Kuljeet in the film, which was eventually played by Parmeet Sethi. “I had a chance to do the role that Parmeet Sethi did but I was asked to shave off my beard for that. That was their requirement for the character. But I was stuck in continuity for 2-3 other films and it was all back to back so I couldn’t shave. I had to say no to such a big director. I felt really bad. And later, that film became such a big hit. It’s still counted as one of the greats of all time.”

Expressing his regret, Milind said, “Every artiste faces these kind of things. You get these opportunities and you have to be on the lookout for such things. Sometimes you can’t do anything, you just miss out on them.”

At one point, Armaan Kohli was also in the race for the part. In an earlier chat with Bollywood Hungama, Parmeet had shared that he gave his audition for the role after he learnt that Armaan was going to get cast. “Usually, I am not that persistent but for this, I knew this is for me,” he said. DDLJ marked Parmeet’s debut in the movies.
