‘That Sameer Wankhede cameo in The Ba**ds Of Bollywood…’: Fans says Aryan Khan ‘cooked him’

In the very first episode of The Ba**ds Of Bollywood, director Aryan Khan appears to take a dig at former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer Sameer Wankhede, who arrested him in 2021 in a drug case.

Aryan Khan’s directorial debut The Ba**ds Of Bollywood released today, and apart from its high-profile cameos, the show also features references drawn from Aryan’s own life. In the very first episode, Aryan appears to take a dig at former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer Sameer Wankhede, who arrested him in 2021 in a drug case.

The particular scene, which has gone viral on social media, shows the show’s lead actor Lakshya attending a film party when a character resembling Sameer Wankhede arrives in a police van, declaring, “I will raid this venue today.” He further adds, “Satyamev Jayate,” the national motto that Wankhede often used while addressing Aryan’s case on X (formerly Twitter).

The sequence continues with the officer spotting a man smoking and lecturing him, saying, “I am a part of war against drugs. I am part of wall against drugs. I am part of NCG.” However, the smoker dismisses him, saying he is not part of Bollywood, leaving the officer frustrated and disinterested. He then notices an actor nearby and questions him, “How can you stand next to a man who is smoking a joint?” before slapping him and ordering his team to arrest the actor. As the arrest is made, he remarks, “Ye Bollywood vale bhi na (These Bollywood people na…)”

Fans quickly reacted to Aryan’s apparent dig at Wankhede. One user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, “The Sameer Wankhede cameo in The Bads of Bollywood is too good lol. Iykyk.”* Another posted, “Sameer Wankhede in the first episode and he is sounding exactly like him (sic).” A third comment added humorously, “SAMEER WANKHEDE is gonna have a blast watching this.” One more comment wrote, Guess who 🤣🤣 Aryan Cooked 💥”

For the unversed, in 2021 Aryan Khan, along with Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha, was arrested by the NCB and charged with possession, consumption, and sale/purchase of banned drugs. They were among 20 people taken into custody after the agency raided a cruise ship and claimed to have seized contraband. Aryan spent 25 days in jail before being granted bail. Wankhede was later removed from the case following allegations of blackmail.
