Tanishaa Mukerji addresses if pre-nuptial agreement led to her separation from Uday Chopra: ‘People don’t know what happens behind closed doors’

Actor Tanishaa Mukerji, who worked with Yash Raj Films on a few projects in the early stages of her career, spoke about her relationship with Uday Chopra. She said that they began dating while they were working on the film Neal ‘n’ Nikki, but they broke up because things didn’t work out. While Tanishaa didn’t reveal the reason behind their break-up, she addressed rumours that a pre-nuptial agreement played a role in their separation just as they were getting ready to take things to the next level. Uday and Tanisha both tried their luck as actors in films, but their careers failed to take off. Uday moved to the United States, where he set up a new wing of YRF.

In an interview with Vickey Lalwani, she was asked why they broke up, and she said, “Audiences will get invested in any relationship that is highlighted by the media. If the media views you as a beautiful couple, the audience will also believe that they are a beautiful couple. The media has the ability to change the audience’s perception, and to control it. But they have no idea what the ‘beautiful couple’ is going through, or what is happening behind closed doors.”

When it was mentioned that the talk around town was that Tanishaa had declined to sign a prenup, she said, “Rubbish! Rubbish! I can’t believe you’re even asking me this question. I respect Uday and his family too much to comment on any of this. Anybody who respects them would know that this is all rubbish. But overall, we had a great relationship, and relationships fail.” Asked if they’ve remained in touch over the years, Tanishaa said, “I find it very difficult to stay in touch with my ex-boyfriends. Ek baar ex hogaya toh ex hogaya.”

In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Tanishaa said that she was heartbroken after her break-up with Uday, as they had known each other for a long time. “I was more heartbroken jab mera Uday (Uday Chopra) ke sath breakup hua. Because we were friends. We were very close and we have known each other for a very long time,” she said, adding that she doesn’t get hung up. “I am the kind of person who always looks at the bright side of things. I just can’t help it. I believe that whatever happens, happens for the good. This is part of life then you get over it and move on,” she said.
