Bollywood actor Sushmita Sen is all set to play the role of transgender activist Gauri Sawant in Taali. The makers on Friday dropped the motion poster of the series which features Sushmita in a never-seen-before avatar.

The caption read, “Laakh gira de bijli mujhpe, mai toh satrang banu. #HappyPride.”

The motion poster is unique and inclusive, with a third gender tick box featuring a bindi. Sushmita Sen’s forehead is showcased, and her powerful eyes hint at the epic tale that awaits viewers. Sushmita is heard saying, “Main taali bajati nahi bajwati hoon.”

Taali is helmed by Ravi Jadhav and will release on JioCinema.

A few months ago, Sushmita Sen took to her Instagram handle and dropped a video announcing that she has wrapped the shoot of the series. Thanking the director, the actor said, “Thank you @ravijadhavofficial for being one of the calmest & most Humane Directors I’ve ever worked with…the direction team led by Amol…gratitude.”

Gauri Sawant, who was born as Ganesh, played a crucial role as one of the petitioners in the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) case. The case, filed in 2013, led to the Supreme Court’s final verdict in 2014, recognising transgender individuals as the third gender.
